What is LEED?

LEED, stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is the Green Building Rating System that encourages everyone, from

homeowners, contractors, engineers, architects, and building consultants to adopt green building products and practices, through the use of

universally accepted guidelines.

What is Green Construction?

Green Construction is about using products that meet the sustainable qualities both during and after construction, and minimizing the

environmental footprint the project has on the environment. A green product is one that has little to no negative effect on its surrounding

environment. It can also be a product that allows for the conservation of other materials and natural resources.

Products that may help an project earn points within the LEED Rating System have the following qualities,

• they improve indoor air quality
• they contain a low amount or no amount of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds)
• they contain a percentage of pre or post-consumer recycled content
• they are produced locally
• they save or conserve energy or water
